Species: Cyphastrea spp.
Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony Coral) / Encrusting to Branching Coral
WWC Strawberry Branching Cyphastrea is a highly desirable LPS coral known for its unique combination of encrusting growth and subtle branching structure. Unlike typical Cyphastrea that remains flat and encrusting, this morph develops low, irregular branches or raised mounds covered in dense corallites, giving it a textured, “strawberry-like” appearance.
The coloration is the main attraction—typically featuring deep red to strawberry-pink tones contrasted with bright neon green or yellow polyps that glow intensely under actinic lighting. This high-contrast combination creates a vivid, speckled effect across both the encrusting base and branching extensions.
As it grows, Strawberry Branching Cyphastrea forms a dense, textured colony that adds both color and dimensional structure to lower and mid-level reef zones.
Coral Type: LPS / Encrusting–Branching Coral
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect flow helps keep the surface clean and supports healthy polyp extension
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; benefits from occasional target feeding with fine particulate foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef to enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Peaceful; does not typically extend sweeper tentacles but should be given space to expand and encrust
Placement: Best placed on stable rockwork in lower to mid-light areas where it can safely encrust and develop its branching structure
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
