WWC Saltwater Taffee Zoanthid
Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Saltwater Taffee Zoanthids are a colorful and playful zoanthid variety known for their candy-like coloration. Individual polyps often feature a pastel mix of pink, orange, and yellow hues, with a contrasting center that may be green or teal. The polyps grow from a mat-like base, quickly forming dense, spreading colonies across rock surfaces. Under actinic or blue reef lighting, their fluorescent pigments intensify, producing a glowing, eye-catching display that adds a cheerful accent to mixed reef aquariums.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Lighting: Low to Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional broadcast or target feeding with fine coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef can enhance coloration and polyp growth
Aggression: Low toward neighboring corals, though colonies can gradually overgrow nearby rockwork if not managed
Substrate: Best placed on rockwork or frag racks where the colony can encrust and expand naturally
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
