Species: Turbinaria spp.
Coral Type: LPS
Purple Scroll Turbinaria is a large polyp stony coral known for its striking purple coloration and distinctive scroll- or plate-like growth pattern. Colonies typically form layered, encrusting plates that curve and spiral, creating a textured, three-dimensional structure. Polyps are fleshy and extend slightly during the day, giving the colony a lively appearance. Under actinic or blue-spectrum reef lighting, the fluorescent purple pigments intensify, making it a dramatic and elegant addition to mixed reef aquariums.
Coral Type: LPS
Lighting: Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 100–200 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle to moderate water movement keeps polyps clean and fully extended
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional target feeding with fine meaty or powdered coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef enhances growth and coloration
Aggression: Moderate; may extend short sweeper tentacles, so allow adequate spacing from neighboring corals
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
