WWC Peppermint Cyphastrea

Species: Cyphastrea spp.

Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony Coral) / Encrusting Coral

WWC Peppermint Cyphastrea is a highly sought-after encrusting LPS coral known for its bold red-and-white contrast and strong fluorescent pop. It grows as a thin, spreading crust that closely follows rock surfaces, gradually forming a dense field of small, raised corallites. The “Peppermint” morph is especially prized for its vibrant peppermint-like pattern—typically featuring deep red to crimson tissue contrasted with bright white, green, or neon polyps that create a striking candy-striped or speckled effect.

Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent elements intensify dramatically, giving the colony a glowing, high-contrast appearance that stands out even in lower-light reef zones.

Coral Type: LPS / Encrusting Coral
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect flow helps keep the surface clean and supports healthy polyp extension
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; benefits from occasional target feeding with fine particulate foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef to enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Peaceful; does not typically extend sweeper tentacles but should be given space to encrust without competition from faster-growing corals
Placement: Best placed on stable rockwork in lower to mid-light areas where it can safely encrust and expand without being overshadowed

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
