WWC Mountain Dew Chalice

Species: Echinophyllia spp.

Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony Coral) / Chalice Coral

WWC Mountain Dew Chalice is a high-energy chalice coral prized for its electric coloration and smooth, encrusting growth pattern. It forms fleshy, plate-like colonies that gradually spread across rockwork, developing subtle folds and ridges as it matures. The “Mountain Dew” morph is especially sought after for its vivid neon green to lime coloration accented by glowing yellow, teal, or orange eyes that create a bright, citrus-inspired appearance.

Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent pigments intensify dramatically, making the colony glow with an almost radioactive brilliance that stands out strongly in lower-light reef zones.

Coral Type: LPS / Chalice Coral
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 40–120 PAR) — prefers shaded or indirect light
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect flow helps protect its fleshy tissue and maintain clean surfaces
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; benefits from occasional target feeding with fine particulate or meaty LPS foods such as mysis, Reef Roids, or similar blends
Aggression: Moderate; can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so spacing from neighboring corals is recommended
Placement: Best placed on lower rockwork, ledges, or shaded areas where it can encrust and expand without strong light or direct competition

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
