WWC Earthquake Favia

Species: Favia spp.

Coral Type: LPS

Earthquake Favia is a bold large polyp stony coral prized for its striking color contrast and textured appearance. Individual corallites feature a bright green or yellow center surrounded by vibrant red, orange, or brown outer rings, creating a dramatic, “exploding” effect reminiscent of seismic activity. Colonies form dome-shaped or encrusting structures, with fleshy polyps that extend slightly during the day to reveal their intricate patterns. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, their fluorescent pigments intensify, making Earthquake Favia a standout focal point in reef aquariums.

Coral Type: LPS
Lighting: Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 100–200 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle water movement encourages healthy polyp extension and prevents debris buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional target feeding with meaty or powdered coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef can enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Moderate; may extend short sweeper tentacles, so provide adequate spacing from neighboring corals
Substrate: Best placed on stable rockwork or reef structures where the colony can expand without shading

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
