Common Name: Diversity Favia
Species Name: Favia sp.
Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony)
Care Level: Easy to Moderate
Physical Description:
Diversity Favia is a vibrant, multi-colored brain coral prized for its intricate patterns and bold contrast. Its surface is made up of tightly packed corallites, each outlined in bright rings of color—often featuring combinations of green, orange, red, yellow, and purple. The fleshy polyps create a textured, maze-like appearance, with each “eye” adding to its dynamic, mosaic look. Under actinic lighting, the fluorescent pigments glow intensely, making this coral a standout centerpiece as it slowly encrusts and forms a rounded colony.
Lighting:
Low to Moderate (approximately 50–120 PAR); adapts well to a range of lighting but should be acclimated to higher intensity
Flow Rate:
Low to Moderate, indirect flow to keep the surface clean while allowing full polyp inflation
Food Requirements:
Photosynthetic but benefits from regular target feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and reef roids to enhance growth and coloration
Aggression:
Moderate; can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so allow adequate space between it and neighboring corals
Placement:
Best placed on lower to mid-level rockwork where lighting and flow are stable and it has room to expand
Aquaculture & Health Standards:
Aquacultured Diversity Favia is hardy and well-suited for reef aquariums. It thrives in stable conditions with consistent alkalinity, calcium, and nutrient levels. Avoid rapid parameter swings, and monitor for nighttime sweeper activity to prevent damage to nearby corals.
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are healthy, stable, and ready for your display aquarium.
