Common Name: WWC Cherry Garcia Chalice
Species Name: Echinophyllia sp. (commonly)
Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony)

Care Level: Moderate

Physical Description:
WWC Cherry Garcia Chalice is a highly sought-after chalice coral prized for its rich, dessert-inspired coloration. The base typically displays deep cherry red to burgundy tones, contrasted by vibrant pink to orange eyes and subtle streaks or speckling across its surface. Its plating growth form develops into thin, undulating layers that can encrust and fold as it matures. Under actinic lighting, the fluorescent pigments intensify dramatically, creating a glowing, high-contrast appearance that stands out in any reef aquarium.

Aquacultured specimens like WWC Cherry Garcia Chalice are typically hardier and better adapted to aquarium life. For best results, maintain stable alkalinity, calcium, and nutrient levels, and avoid sudden changes in lighting or flow to prevent tissue recession.

Lighting:
Low to Moderate (approximately 50–120 PAR); higher light may enhance coloration but should be acclimated slowly

Flow Rate:
Low to Moderate, indirect flow to keep the surface clean without damaging delicate tissue

Food Requirements:
Photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, reef roids, and other fine particulate blends to promote growth and coloration

Aggression:
Moderate; can extend short sweeper tentacles at night, so allow adequate spacing from neighboring corals

Placement:
Best placed on lower rockwork or shaded areas of the reef where lighting and flow are gentle and stable

Aquaculture & Health Standards:
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are healthy, stable, and ready for your display aquarium.
