Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Description:
WWC Canary Island Zoanthids are a vibrant zoanthid variety that can add a bright, energetic pop of color to a reef aquarium. Their coloration can become especially striking under blue and actinic lighting, making them a great choice for colorful zoanthid gardens and mixed reef displays. These colonial polyps can gradually form attractive mats as they grow, especially when provided with stable water parameters and suitable room to expand.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Lighting: Moderate – approximately 75–150 PAR
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate – gentle, indirect flow that keeps the polyps clean while allowing them to open naturally
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through their symbiotic zooxanthellae. Occasional fine particulate foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef may be offered to supplement nutrition and support healthy growth.
Aggression: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive – zoanthids can spread rapidly and may eventually compete with or overgrow neighboring corals.
Placement: Best placed on an isolated rock, frag island, or stable structure with adequate room for the colony to expand.
Quarantine & Biosecurity:
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program designed to protect the health of our coral collection and help reduce the introduction of unwanted pests and pathogens. Each coral is carefully inspected and monitored before being made available, providing an added layer of confidence when introducing new specimens to your reef system.
Safety Note: Zoanthids and Palythoa can contain palytoxin. Avoid unnecessary handling, and never cut, crush, boil, or use power tools on these corals. Use appropriate protective equipment and good ventilation when handling or fragging.
