Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Description:
WWC ARC Nightcrawler Zoanthids are a striking zoanthid variety prized for their bold coloration and eye-catching appearance. Their contrasting tones can become especially fluorescent under blue and actinic lighting, making them a standout addition to colorful zoanthid gardens and mixed reef displays. Like other colonial zoanthids, they can gradually form attractive clusters and mats when provided with stable conditions and sufficient room to expand.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Lighting: Moderate – approximately 75–150 PAR
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate – gentle, indirect flow that keeps the polyps clean while allowing them to open naturally
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through their symbiotic zooxanthellae. Occasional fine particulate foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef may be offered to supplement nutrition and support healthy growth.
Aggression: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive – zoanthids can spread quickly and may eventually compete with or overgrow neighboring corals.
Placement: Best placed on an isolated rock, frag island, or stable structure with adequate room for the colony to expand without encroaching on nearby corals.
Quarantine & Biosecurity:
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program designed to protect the health of our coral collection and help reduce the introduction of unwanted pests and pathogens. Each coral is carefully inspected and monitored before being made available, providing an added layer of confidence when introducing new specimens to your reef system.
Safety Note: Zoanthids and Palythoa can contain palytoxin. Avoid unnecessary handling, and never cut, crush, boil, or use power tools on these corals. Use appropriate protective equipment and good ventilation when handling or fragging.
