Naoko’s Sharkfin Wrasse – Cirrhilabrus naokoae

Naoko’s Sharkfin Wrasse is a beautifully patterned fairy wrasse featuring warm red, pink, and orange tones with a distinctive elongated dorsal “sharkfin” that gives the species its name. Reaching 3–4 inches in adulthood, this wrasse is active, peaceful, and spends its day cruising through the rockwork in search of planktonic prey. Its vibrant coloration intensifies under quality reef lighting, making it a standout addition to mixed reef systems. Once acclimated, it becomes a confident and engaging swimmer.

A minimum tank size of 55 gallons is recommended to support its constant activity and generous swimming space. Add Naoko’s Sharkfin Wrasse after your tank is fully cycled and covered with a secure lid, as fairy wrasses are known jumpers. Provide rockwork with caves and overhangs to enrich natural behavior and offer nighttime shelter.

This species is a carnivore that feeds on very small invertebrates, thriving on offerings such as PE Mysis and Hikari Brine Shrimp. Providing a variety of meaty frozen foods encourages strong coloration and consistent activity.
