White Tail Yellow Eye Tang – (Ctenochaetus flavicauda)

The White Tail Yellow Eye Tang is a striking bristletooth tang featuring a deep charcoal to brown body accented by a vivid yellow ring around the eye and a bright white tail that sharply contrasts the rest of its coloration. Fine horizontal striping may be visible across the body, adding subtle texture and depth. Reaching around 7–8 inches in adulthood, this species is an active, constant grazer with a generally peaceful temperament, though it may become territorial toward other tangs, especially similar-shaped species.

This species thrives in a well-established aquarium with abundant live rock to support natural grazing and stable, high-quality water conditions. Provide ample swimming space along with rock surfaces for foraging, as this tang will spend much of its day picking at algae and detritus. A minimum tank size of 90 gallons is recommended, and it is best introduced after the aquarium has matured to ensure sufficient natural food sources.
