The Grapsus grapsus Sally Lightfoot Crab is a vibrant, reef-safe invertebrate with a flattened, rounded body and striking red, orange, and yellow coloration that provides a bold splash of color in aquariums. Active and agile, it spends most of its time scavenging along rock surfaces, feeding on algae and detritus while helping maintain clean surfaces. Its energetic behavior and vivid appearance make it a captivating addition to reef aquariums.

Sally Lightfoot Crabs thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, abundant rock surfaces, and moderate water flow. Introduce them only after the aquarium is mature to reduce stress and ensure sufficient algae or supplemental feeding. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended to allow ample space for foraging and roaming.

Their diet can be supplemented with algae-based foods from Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies and fine foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum to maintain vibrant coloration and optimal health. Target feeding encourages natural grazing behavior.
