Powder Blue Tang – Large – Acanthurus leucosternon

The Large Powder Blue Tang is a striking reef fish with an electric blue body, bold black face markings, and vibrant yellow dorsal fin. At this size, it exhibits confident swimming behavior, patrolling the mid- to upper-levels of the aquarium with active, purposeful movements. Known for its bold coloration and strong presence, it is a visually commanding centerpiece for mature reef systems.

This species requires a large, well-established reef aquarium with plenty of open swimming space, strong flow, and abundant rockwork for grazing and refuge. Introduce only after the tank has fully cycled and parameters are consistently stable. A minimum tank size of 180 gallons is recommended for a large specimen to accommodate its activity and territorial needs.

Powder Blue Tangs are heavy grazers and thrive on algae-rich foods along with premium prepared diets from San Francisco, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum. Supplement regularly with Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies to support digestive health and vibrant coloration.
