The Lybia tesselata Pom Pom Crab is a small, striking reef invertebrate recognized for its patterned carapace and the distinctive “pom-poms” it holds in its claws, typically small pieces of anemone or other soft tissue. Energetic and quirky, it waves its pom-poms constantly while foraging, creating a charming display of activity and personality. Peaceful and reef-safe, it spends most of its time among rockwork and corals, adding both behavior and visual interest to the aquarium.

Pom Pom Crabs thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, abundant rock crevices, and a clean, mature substrate. Add them only after the system is stable and predator-free to ensure safety. A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended, with larger tanks allowing more space for natural behavior.

Their diet can be supplemented with finely chopped or pellet foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum, alongside naturally occurring microfauna. Target feeding helps maintain their health and encourages active foraging.
