Marine Nerite Snail – Nerita polita

The Marine Nerite Snail, also known as the Nerite Algae Snail or Polished Nerite Snail, features a turban-shaped shell with a distinctive mottled brown and white pattern. This small but active snail is a dedicated algae grazer that rarely disturbs rocks or corals, making it both attractive and functional in reef aquariums. Primarily nocturnal, it often buries itself in sand or hides among rocks during the day and emerges at night to feed.

Nerite Turbo Snails thrive in well-established aquariums of at least 10 gallons, with stable water parameters and a secure lid to prevent escapes. Like all inverts, they are highly sensitive to copper-based medications and high nitrate levels, so careful monitoring is essential. Introduce new snails using the drip acclimation method to reduce stress.
