Hybrid Powder Blue Tang – Acanthurus leucosternon × Hybrid Variant

The Hybrid Powder Blue Tang showcases the iconic electric blues and crisp blacks of a classic Powder Blue, blended with subtle coloration traits from its hybrid lineage—often deeper body tones, enhanced yellow accents, or softened facial markings. This fish is active, alert, and highly expressive, spending most of its day cruising open water and patrolling rock structures. Like its purebred counterpart, it can be assertive, but its hybrid form is often considered slightly more adaptable while retaining the same stunning reef presence.

This tang thrives in a large, mature reef aquarium with strong flow, open swimming lanes, and abundant rockwork for grazing. Add it only after the tank is well-established and capable of handling high-activity species. A minimum tank size of 120 gallons is recommended due to its energetic swimming behavior and territorial tendencies.

As an active grazer, this hybrid requires a varied diet featuring algae-rich and high-quality prepared foods from San Francisco, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum. For essential plant matter and digestive health, feed Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies regularly.
