Physical Description & Behavior:
The Golden Sea Cucumber is a striking, elongated echinoderm that can reach 8–12 inches (20–30 cm) as an adult. Its smooth, golden-brown body glistens under reef lighting, and it exhibits slow, deliberate movement across the substrate while continuously grazing. Generally peaceful, this detritivore helps clean the sand bed and rarely disturbs other reef inhabitants.
Suitable Tank:
Ideal for established reef tanks with mature sand beds of at least 2 inches depth, the Golden Sea Cucumber should be introduced only after your aquarium has stabilized for several months. Minimum tank size is 50 gallons, providing ample space for movement and feeding without disturbing corals.
Diet:
A natural detritivore, it feeds on organic matter within the substrate. Supplement its diet with finely chopped Hikari Spirulina Brine Shrimp or San Francisco Bay Brand Spirulina Mysis Shrimp to ensure consistent nutrition in tanks with low natural detritus.
Approximate Product Size:
3–5 inches (juvenile), growing up to 8–12 inches in a well-established tank.
