Ignitus Anthias – Pseudanthias ignitus

The Ignitus Anthias, also known as the Flame Anthias, is a brilliantly colored shallow-water reef fish native to the Maldives. Its vivid orange-to-red body and active mid-water swimming behavior add nonstop motion and vibrancy to large reef aquariums. Like all anthias, this species is hermaphroditic—if no male is present, the dominant female will naturally transition into the male role. Peaceful and social, Ignitus Anthias thrive in groups and display their most natural behavior when kept in harems.

Ignitus Anthias should be housed in aquariums of at least 75 gallons for a single fish or 125 gallons for a harem consisting of one male and several females. Provide strong water movement, plenty of open swimming space, and rock structures for retreat. Stable, high-quality water conditions are essential, and the system should be well established before introducing this species.

These planktivores require a varied, high-nutrition diet offered several times throughout the day. Feed frozen foods like PE Mysis and Hikari Spirulina Brine Shrimp, as well as high-quality pellets like TDO Chromaboost.  Additionally, a healthy population of copepods in the tank will provide additional sources of nutrition.
