Fighting Conch — Strombus alatus / Strombus spp.

The Fighting Conch is a sturdy, reef-safe marine snail with a thick, conical shell often patterned in shades of cream, tan, and brown, and a distinctive flared lip as it matures. Peaceful and active, it grazes across sandy substrates, consuming detritus and microalgae, helping maintain a clean and healthy aquarium. Its deliberate movement and elegant shell make it both functional and visually appealing for sandbed and reef setups.

Fighting Conchs thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, deep sandbeds, and gentle water flow to allow natural grazing behavior. Introduce only to mature systems to ensure sufficient food availability. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended to provide space for natural movement and substrate interaction.

Their diet can be supplemented with finely powdered or pellet foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum, in addition to natural grazing on algae and detritus. Target feeding encourages active foraging and healthy growth.

Approximate product size: 2"–4" (varies by availability)

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
