ECC Starburst Galaxea
Species: Galaxea fascicularis
Coral Type: Other LPS
Physical Description: Starburst Galaxea is a striking large polyp stony coral known for its vivid green or neon “starburst” polyps that extend from a branching calcium carbonate skeleton. Each polyp sits in a small corallite, giving the colony a textured surface that sparkles under actinic lighting. The coral typically grows in encrusting or semi-branching colonies, forming clusters of star-shaped polyps. Under blue spectrum lighting, the polyps fluoresce intensely, making this species a standout centerpiece in many reef aquariums.
Coral Type: Other LPS
Lighting: Moderate to High (approximately 100–200 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate; enough to gently move the polyps without blasting the tissue
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional feeding of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, reef roids, or broadcast planktonic foods to support growth.
Aggression: High toward neighboring corals due to long sweeper tentacles that can extend several inches at night. Provide ample spacing from other corals.
Substrate: Best placed on stable rockwork in the mid to lower areas of the aquarium with sufficient space around the colony to prevent stinging nearby corals.
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
