Species: Zoanthus sp.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Physical Description: Orange Oxide Zoanthids are bold, industrial-toned button polyps known for their deep, oxidized coloration and intense fluorescent highlights. Each polyp typically features a rich burnt-orange to rust-colored oral disk with darker oxidized undertones that transition into contrasting skirts of deep brown, maroon, or smoky red. Subtle radial striping or mottled patterns are often present, giving the colony a weathered, “metallic oxide” appearance. Under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent pigments ignite into a glowing ember-like effect, with the orange centers appearing molten against the darker surrounding tones. As the colony matures, it spreads across rockwork and frag plugs, forming dense mats of rugged, high-contrast polyps.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Lighting: Moderate (approximately 80–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate with gentle, indirect flow
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic but may benefit from occasional broadcast feeding of fine particulate foods such as reef roids or phytoplankton
Aggression: Low; generally peaceful but can spread across available substrate over time
Substrate: Best placed on rockwork, frag plugs, or isolated zoanthid garden areas where controlled growth is desired
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
