Physical Description: Hawaiian Sunset Blastomussa merletti is a richly colored LPS coral prized for its warm gradient palette and deeply fleshy polyp structure. Each polyp is large, rounded, and prominently inflated, typically displaying a sunset-inspired blend of coloration—ranging from soft golden yellows and fiery oranges to warm pinks, reds, and occasional hints of lavender or peach at the outer edges. The oral centers are often the brightest point of contrast, glowing with neon or golden highlights that appear to radiate outward into the surrounding tissue. Under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting, the coral takes on a vivid tropical glow reminiscent of a Hawaiian sunset, with enhanced fluorescence and depth across each individual polyp.
