The Dispar Anthias is commonly known as the Madder Seaperch. It is a shallow water species that thrives in a 125 gallon aquarium with one male and up to ten females. When a single, a 75 gallon tank is adequate. Anthias species all share the trait of being hermaphroditic. If a dominant male perishes or in the aquarium hobby, is not purchased, the largest female of the group will often morph to a male and take that role.
Anthias do best when fed a varied diet of frozen mysis, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and over time may eat high-quality flake and pellets offered in small quantities multiple times per day. Copepods and amphipods can also provide a steady supply of nutritious live food, sure to keep active planktivore content.
