Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish (L) - Forcipiger flavissimus
The Yellow longnose Butterflyfish resides in the Indo-Pacific region and can be found on the shallow reef flats and shoals. It possesses a long snout resembling a needle nose pliers and uses it to pick for food in the cracks and crevices in-between rocks and coral.
This is a good butterflyfish for the beginner due to the fact that it is hardy and if acclimated correctly can survive an extended length of time in larger, reef aquariums. Typically, Longnose Butterflyfish are best kept in 125 gallon or larger reef tanks. They are know for nipping at corals and small invertebrates.
A diet of meaty foods including mysis shrimp, crustaceans and vitamin enriched frozen carnivore diet is preferred.
