Common Name: Bicolor Angelfish
Species Name: Centropyge bicolor

Physical Description & Behavior:

The Bicolor Angelfish is a striking dwarf angelfish known for its bold two-tone coloration, featuring a vibrant golden-yellow front half and a deep royal blue posterior. Accented by electric blue highlights around the eyes and fins, this species adds a vivid splash of contrast to any marine aquarium. Reaching up to ~5–6 inches as an adult, the Bicolor Angelfish is semi-aggressive and best kept with compatible tankmates. While often kept in reef systems with caution, individuals may nip at soft corals, LPS, and clam mantles.

Suitable Tank Size & Environment:

This species does best in a well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing, hiding, and territory establishment. Provide ample rockwork along with open swimming space. A minimum tank size of 70 gallons is recommended to support their activity level and reduce territorial behavior.

Diet:

An omnivorous grazer, the Bicolor Angelfish benefits from a varied diet rich in both plant and meaty foods. Offer high-quality angelfish preparations containing sponge material such as Hikari Mega Marine Angel and Ocean Nutrition Angel Formula, along with Mysis shrimp, Spirulina-enriched brine shrimp, and New Life Spectrum pellets. Supplement regularly with marine algae like Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies to encourage natural grazing and maintain vibrant coloration.
