Common Name:  Bicolor Blenny
Species:  Ecsenius bicolor

Physical Description:
The Bicolor Blenny features a distinctive two-tone coloration with a dark blue to purplish front half and a bright yellow to orange rear half. This slender, elongated fish typically reaches an adult size of around 4 inches and has expressive eyes and small comb-like teeth used for grazing. Bicolor Blennies often perch on rockwork, darting between crevices and holes. They are generally peaceful but may defend their chosen perch or territory from other blennies or similarly shaped fish.

Suitable Tank:
A mature reef aquarium with ample live rock is ideal, as it provides natural grazing surfaces and plenty of hiding spots. A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended, and the species should be added after the tank has established algae growth and stable parameters. Bicolor Blennies are well suited for reef systems and typically coexist peacefully with most community fish.

Diet:
Primarily herbivorous, the Bicolor Blenny spends much of its time grazing on microalgae and biofilm growing on rock surfaces. Supplement their diet with Hikari Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 Frozen Food and Pellets, San Francisco Bay Brand Spirulina Mysis Shrimp, or New Life Spectrum Algae Pellets, along with Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies offered in an algae clip.

Approximate Product Size (in inches): 1.5 – 3
