Reaching about 2.5–3 inches as an adult, it’s known for its peaceful demeanor and unique habit of hovering or swimming upside down under ledges. This species is shy at first but becomes bold and engaging once settled, making it a rewarding addition to calm reef communities. Its bright coloration adds a vivid pop to smaller and larger aquariums alike.

A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended, with plenty of rockwork, caves, and shaded areas that mimic its natural reef habitat. Add the Yellow Assessor after your tank has fully cycled and established stable hiding spaces, as this helps reduce stress during acclimation. It thrives best in peaceful community setups with low aggression.

The Yellow Assessor Basslet is a carnivore that feeds on small invertebrates; offer a varied diet including Hikari Brine Shrimp and PE Mysis to support strong coloration and activity. Frequent, smaller feedings can help shy individuals begin eating confidently.
