The Yellowtail Damselfish is a hardy and vividly colored reef fish featuring an electric blue body contrasted by a bright yellow tail. Reaching an adult size of approximately 3 inches, this active species is well known for its durability and constant movement throughout the aquarium. While considered one of the more peaceful damselfish species, the Yellowtail Damselfish may still display territorial behavior toward similarly sized fish or new additions. Its striking coloration and resilience make it an excellent choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike.

The Yellowtail Damselfish adapts well to reef and fish-only aquariums with ample rockwork and hiding spaces. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single specimen, though larger aquariums are preferred when keeping multiple individuals. This species is best added later in the stocking process to help minimize territorial aggression toward newly introduced tankmates.
