Yellow Eye Tang — Zebrasoma xanthurum

The Zebrasoma xanthurum Yellow Eye Tang is a striking reef fish with a deep blue body, vivid yellow eyes, and a yellow tail, creating a bold contrast that stands out in any aquarium. Active and agile, it spends much of its time grazing on algae along rock surfaces, helping control nuisance algae while adding movement and color to the tank. Generally peaceful with other tangs if introduced carefully, it thrives best in larger community reef setups.

Yellow Eye Tangs thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, abundant live rock for grazing, and open swimming areas. Introduce only to mature systems to reduce stress and encourage natural grazing behavior. A minimum tank size of 125 gallons is recommended to accommodate their active swimming and territorial needs.

Their diet should include high-quality algae-based and meaty foods from Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies, San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum to maintain vibrant coloration and healthy growth. Target feeding promotes active grazing and overall health.
