Yasha Hasa Goby – Stonogobiops yasha

The Yasha Hasa Goby, also known as the Yasha Goby or White Ray Shrimp Goby, is a striking nano goby prized for its bold red-and-white broken stripes, tall flag-like dorsal fin, and contrasting dark chin. This species is peaceful, shy, and highly attentive to its surroundings, often hovering just outside its burrow. Known for its iconic symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp, the goby stands guard while the shrimp maintains their shared den—making it a favorite for hobbyists who love natural reef behaviors.

Yasha Hasa Gobies thrive in nano to mid-sized reef tanks of 10 gallons or more, especially those with plenty of rockwork and a deeper sandbed for burrowing. Their calm nature makes them excellent tankmates for other peaceful species. Add this goby early in your stocking plan as the first bottom-dweller to help it settle in and establish a burrow with a compatible pistol shrimp.

Their diet should include small, meaty foods such as frozen mysis and enriched brine from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, and PE, as well as high-quality micro pellets from TDO or New Life Spectrum. Feed at least twice daily to support energy needs and vibrant coloration.
