Assorted Sea Cucumbers from the genus Holothuria are peaceful, sand-sifting detritivores known for their elongated, flexible bodies and varied natural coloration. These invertebrates play an important ecological role by processing sand and consuming organic waste, helping to keep the substrate clean and oxygenated. Typically slow-moving and non-aggressive, they thrive in calm, stable reef environments.

A minimum tank size of 55 gallons with a mature, established sandbed is recommended to support their natural feeding behavior. Introduce Assorted Sea Cucumbers only into well-aged, stable systems with consistent salinity and gentle flow. Because sea cucumbers can release toxins when severely stressed or dying, it is essential to monitor new additions closely—especially during the first several days.

These animals obtain most of their nutrition from detritus, microfauna, and organic particulates naturally present in the sand. In exceptionally clean aquaria where supplemental nutrition is needed, you may lightly dust the substrate with New Life Spectrum Marine Formula, TDO Chromaboost, or other appropriate omnivore foods that can settle naturally for grazing. For added safety, keep activated carbon, Chemipure Blue, or Poly-Bio-Marine Poly Filter pads on hand to address any accidental toxin release.
