Common Name: Dragon Soul Favia Colony
Species Name: Favia sp.
Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony)
Physical Description:
Dragon Soul Favia is a highly sought-after LPS coral known for its intense, fiery coloration, typically displaying glowing orange, red, and yellow tones contrasted by darker skeletal ridges. Its surface is composed of tightly packed corallites, each with a defined circular mouth, giving the colony a textured, brain-like appearance. Under actinic lighting, the vibrant pigments fluoresce dramatically, creating a molten, “lava-like” glow. As it grows, the colony encrusts outward over rockwork, forming a dense, eye-catching structure.
Lighting: Moderate to High (approximately 100–200 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate, indirect flow to keep the surface clean without damaging tissue
Food Requirements:
Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from periodic target feeding of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or reef-specific LPS blends to enhance growth and coloration.
Aggression:
Moderate to High; possesses sweeper tentacles that can extend at night, so adequate spacing from neighboring corals is recommended.
Substrate:
Best placed on rockwork or stable reef structures with enough surrounding space to accommodate growth and nighttime sweeper extension.
Aquaculture & Health Standards:
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are healthy, stable, and ready for your display aquarium.
