Long Polyp LPS (REA Category 4)
Long Polyp LPS corals need stable and ideal water quality (Temperature, Salinity, Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium, pH, and low nutrients). They prefer low to moderate, indirect flow that allows their long polyps to gently sway without being blasted, helping prevent tissue damage and retraction. Placement should be low to mid-level in the aquarium with moderate lighting, adjusting slowly to avoid stress. These corals require ample space, as many species extend long sweeper tentacles and can sting nearby corals. Long Polyp LPS benefit from regular supplemental feeding of meaty and fine particulate foods such as mysis, calanus, brine shrimp, reef roids, or plankton-based blends to support growth, coloration, and polyp extension.
