WWC Tyree Orange Setosa Montipora
Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Tyree Orange Setosa is a striking small polyp stony coral known for its vivid, saturated orange coloration that often glows intensely under actinic and blue reef lighting. Unlike many plating Montipora species, Montipora setosa typically forms thick, knobby branches and irregular encrusting growths with a slightly bumpy skeletal texture. Its small polyps are embedded in the skeleton and extend subtly, giving the coral a smooth yet rugged appearance. As the colony matures, it can develop branching lobes that spread outward while encrusting the surrounding rockwork, creating a bold focal point in SPS reef aquariums.
Coral Type: Moderate SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High lighting requirements
Flow Rate: Moderate to High
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic; occasional feeding with fine coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef may enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Low toward neighboring corals
Substrate: Best placed on rockwork or reef structures where it can encrust and branch outward
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
