Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
WWC Tubbs Blues Zoanthids are a classic, highly sought-after designer zoanthid known for their deep, saturated coloration and strong fluorescent glow. Each polyp typically features a rich blue to teal center with subtle green or aqua highlights, surrounded by darker rings and skirts that enhance the bold, “button-like” contrast. The result is a clean, uniform colony with a cool-toned palette that stands out strongly in mixed reef aquariums. As colonies expand, they form dense mats of tightly packed polyps that add steady movement and color across rock structures. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, their blue fluorescence becomes especially intense, giving the colony a glowing, electric appearance.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Zoanthid
Lighting: Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 75–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect water movement supports healthy polyp extension and helps prevent detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional feedings of fine particulate coral foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef may enhance growth and coloration
Aggression: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive; generally reef-safe, though colonies can spread rapidly and may overgrow nearby corals if not managed
Placement: Best placed on isolated rock islands or stable reef structures where colonies can expand freely under consistent lighting and flow conditions
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
