Species: Echinophyllia spp.
Coral Type: Large Polyp Stony (LPS) Coral / Chalice Coral
WWC Terminator Chalice is a high-end designer chalice coral known for its extreme fluorescence and intense contrast patterning. It typically displays a dark to deep base coloration (often purplish, blue, or maroon tones) overlaid with glowing neon highlights that can include bright green, yellow, orange, or red “eye” structures depending on lighting and lineage. Under strong blue-spectrum or actinic lighting, the coral develops a vivid, almost radioactive glow that makes it a standout centerpiece in lower reef zones. Like many chalices, it encrusts and plates outward slowly, forming a textured, alien-like surface over time.
Coral Type: LPS Coral / Chalice
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 50–150 PAR). Best coloration is typically achieved under blue-dominant reef LEDs with stable, indirect lighting
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; prefers gentle, indirect flow that prevents detritus buildup without stressing tissue
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; benefits from occasional target feeding with fine particulate foods such as Reef Roids, amino acids, or small meaty foods (mysis or similar) to support growth and coloration
Aggression: Semi-Aggressive; capable of extending nighttime sweepers that can sting nearby corals, so spacing is important
Placement: Best placed in lower rockwork or sandbed zones with stable conditions and room for outward encrusting growth
We maintain a strict quarantine and observation process that includes preventative dipping, extended health monitoring, and controlled acclimation to ensure all chalice corals are free from pests and stress before entering established reef systems.
