Species: Montipora spp.
Coral Type: SPS (Small Polyp Stony Coral)
WWC Street Lights Montipora is a highly vibrant SPS coral known for its intense multi-color fluorescence and fast encrusting growth. It typically forms smooth, plating to encrusting sheets that spread across rock surfaces, gradually building layered structures with a fine, velvety polyp texture. The “Street Lights” morph is especially prized for its striking combination of neon colors—often featuring bright greens, electric oranges, pinks, and purples scattered across the colony like glowing city lights at night.
Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent pigments become extremely vivid, making the coral appear illuminated from within and giving it a dynamic, high-energy display.
Coral Type: SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High (approximately 150–300 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High; strong, random flow supports healthy growth and prevents detritus buildup on plating surfaces
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; may benefit from occasional amino acid supplementation or ultra-fine SPS coral foods
Aggression: Peaceful; lacks sweeper tentacles but requires space due to its fast encrusting and plating expansion
Placement: Best placed on stable rockwork in well-lit, high-flow areas where it can expand freely without shading nearby corals
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks
