Common Name: Rainbow Madness Cyphastrea
Species Name: Cyphastrea sp.
Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony)

Care Level: Easy to Moderate

Physical Description:
Rainbow Madness Cyphastrea is a vibrant encrusting coral known for its intense, multi-colored patterning. The base typically features deep shades of blue, purple, or red, accented by brightly contrasting polyps in neon hues of orange, yellow, green, and pink—creating a true “rainbow” effect. Its surface is dotted with small, raised corallites that give it a textured, almost beaded appearance. As it grows, it forms a thin, spreading mat that encrusts rockwork, often developing into a colorful patchwork under actinic lighting where its fluorescence becomes especially striking.

Lighting:
Low to Moderate (approximately 50–100 PAR); prefers lower light to maintain optimal coloration and prevent fading

Flow Rate:
Low to Moderate, indirect flow to keep detritus from settling while allowing full polyp extension

Food Requirements:
Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional broadcast feeding of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton, Reef Roids, and other micro-planktonic blends to support growth and vibrancy

Aggression:
Low; peaceful and well-suited for mixed reef aquariums, with minimal risk to neighboring corals

Placement:
Best placed on lower rockwork or shaded areas where it can encrust and spread without being exposed to intense lighting

Aquaculture & Health Standards:
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are healthy, stable, and ready for your display aquarium.
