Species: Favites spp.
Coral Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony Coral)
WWC Lemon-Lime Favites is a vibrant, dome-forming LPS coral known for its bold coloration and tightly packed corallite structure. It grows as a massive or encrusting colony with closely connected, fleshy polyps that create a quilted, brain-like surface. The “Lemon-Lime” morph is especially prized for its bright neon green to chartreuse centers contrasted against golden-yellow, lime, or subtle orange walls, giving the colony a glowing citrus appearance.
Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent green and yellow tones intensify dramatically, making the coral appear lit from within and highly visible even in lower-light reef zones.
Coral Type: LPS
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; gentle, indirect flow helps keep tissue clean and supports full polyp extension
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; benefits from occasional target feeding with meaty or fine particulate coral foods such as Reef Roids, mysis, or similar LPS blends
Aggression: Moderate; may extend short sweeper tentacles at night, so spacing from neighboring corals is recommended
Placement: Best placed on stable rockwork in lower to mid-light areas where it can safely encrust and expand without competition
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
