WWC Golden Lantern Montipora

Species: Montipora spp.

Coral Type: SPS (Small Polyp Stony Coral)

WWC Golden Lantern Montipora is a radiant SPS coral known for its glowing golden coloration and elegant encrusting-to-plating growth form. It develops smooth, layered plates and spreading sheets covered in fine polyps that create a subtle shimmering texture across the colony. The “Golden Lantern” morph is especially prized for its warm golden-yellow to amber base tones accented by contrasting fluorescent green or orange polyps, giving the coral a softly illuminated appearance reminiscent of glowing lantern light.

Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent pigments intensify dramatically, producing a rich, warm glow that makes this coral a standout addition to SPS-dominated reef aquariums.

Coral Type: SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High (approximately 150–300 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High; strong, random flow supports healthy growth and prevents detritus accumulation on plating surfaces
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; may benefit from occasional amino acid supplementation or ultra-fine SPS coral foods
Aggression: Peaceful; lacks sweeper tentacles but requires space due to its encrusting and plating growth pattern
Placement: Best placed on stable rockwork in mid to upper reef zones with strong lighting and flow where it can expand freely without shading neighboring corals

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
