WWC Cousin Eddie's Toxic Montipora

Species: Montipora danae

Coral Type: SPS (Small Polyp Stony Coral)

WWC Cousin Eddie’s Toxic Montipora is a highly sought-after SPS coral known for its intense fluorescent coloration and bold contrast. This encrusting to plating Montipora develops a smooth, layered structure covered in fine polyps that create a subtle textured surface. The “toxic” coloration typically features a vivid neon green base with contrasting purple, blue, or orange polyps that give the colony a glowing, high-voltage appearance. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescence becomes extremely pronounced, making it one of the most visually striking Montipora morphs in reef aquariums.

As the colony grows, it forms expanding plates and encrusting layers that add both structure and vibrant color to SPS-dominated reef systems.

Coral Type: SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High lighting requirements (approximately 150–300 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High; strong, random flow supports healthy tissue growth and prevents detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; may benefit from occasional amino acid supplementation or fine particulate coral foods
Aggression: Peaceful; does not possess sweeper tentacles but should be given space due to encrusting growth potential
Placement: Best placed on stable rockwork in high-light, high-flow areas where it can expand without shading or being overshadowed

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
