WWC Cherry Tree Montipora

Species: Montipora spp.

Coral Type: SPS (Small Polyp Stony Coral)

WWC Cherry Tree Montipora is a vivid SPS coral known for its branching-to-encrusting growth form and rich, saturated coloration. It develops thick, irregular branches and nodular extensions that resemble a miniature coral “tree,” gradually spreading into dense clusters over time. The “Cherry Tree” morph is especially prized for its deep cherry-red to burgundy base coloration contrasted with bright neon green or pink polyps that create a striking, fruit-like color separation across the colony.

Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent polyps intensify significantly, giving the coral a glowing, high-contrast appearance that makes it a standout in SPS-dominated reef systems.

Coral Type: SPS
Lighting: Moderate to High (approximately 150–300 PAR)
Flow Rate: Moderate to High; strong, random flow is important to support healthy branching growth and prevent detritus buildup
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic via symbiotic zooxanthellae; benefits from stable water parameters and may respond well to occasional amino acid or ultra-fine SPS coral foods
Aggression: Peaceful; lacks sweeper tentacles but requires space due to its branching and encrusting growth pattern
Placement: Best placed in mid to upper reef zones with strong lighting and flow where it can expand freely without shading nearby corals

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
