WWC Alpha and Omega Zoanthid
Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Alpha and Omega Zoanthids are a visually striking zoanthid variety known for their bold, high-contrast coloration. Individual polyps typically feature a bright green or yellow center surrounded by a deep purple or blue outer ring, with a subtle lighter fringe along the skirt of short tentacles. The polyps grow from a thin, mat-like base and quickly form dense, encrusting colonies that spread across rock surfaces. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, their fluorescent pigments glow intensely, making them a standout addition to any reef aquarium.
Coral Type: Zoanthus
Lighting: Low to Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional broadcast feeding with fine coral foods such as ReefRoids or Benereef may encourage faster colony growth and vibrant coloration
Aggression: Low toward neighboring corals, though colonies can gradually overtake nearby rockwork if not managed
Substrate: Best placed on rockwork or frag racks where the colony can encrust and expand naturally
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
