The Trochus Snail is a hardworking algae grazer known for its attractive conical shell, which often displays earthy tones of white, tan, and brown with subtle banding. Its smooth, deliberate movements and efficient foraging behavior make it a favorite among reef hobbyists looking to maintain clean rockwork and glass. Trochus Snails are peaceful, reef-safe, and highly valued for their ability to right themselves if overturned—an advantage over many other snail species. Their white foot patterned with fine black dots adds to their visual appeal as they explore the aquarium.

Trochus Snails thrive in established reef aquariums with abundant live rock and stable water chemistry. Introduce them once your tank has matured and developed a natural film of algae, typically several weeks to a few months after cycling.

These snails primarily graze on natural algae, but if algae becomes limited, they readily accept supplemental foods. Offer high-quality algae- and plant-based options such as Hikari Algae Wafers, San Francisco Brand Spirulina Brine Shrimp, or Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies.
