The Sohal Tang is a stunning and bold reef fish with striking horizontal blue and white stripes along a dark body, complemented by vivid orange accents near the tail and dorsal fins. Highly active and territorial, it spends much of its time grazing on algae across rockwork while patrolling its area, making it a visually dynamic addition to large reef aquariums. Best kept with robust tankmates, it may display aggression toward other tangs or similarly shaped fish.

Sohal Tangs thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, abundant live rock for grazing, and expansive open swimming areas. Introduce only to mature systems to reduce stress and ensure proper acclimation. A minimum tank size of 200 gallons is recommended to accommodate their active, territorial behavior.

Their diet should include algae-based foods such as Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies, along with high-quality frozen or pellet foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum to support vibrant coloration and overall health. Target feeding promotes active grazing and robust vitality.
