Rock Anemone- Zebra

Species: Epicystis crucifer (Rock Flower Anemone)

Coral Type: Anemone (Cnidarian – Actiniaria)

Physical Description: Zebra Rock Anemones are highly distinctive, naturally patterned anemones known for their bold striping and dramatic contrast. This “Zebra” variety typically features alternating bands of black, deep brown, or dark maroon paired with bright white, cream, or neon green highlights across the oral disk. The central mouth is often surrounded by radiating patterns that resemble flowing zebra stripes, giving each individual anemone a completely unique appearance. The tentacles are short, bulbous, and densely packed, forming a plush, flower-like structure that expands fully when settled. Under actinic and blue lighting, the fluorescent tones intensify, creating a striking, high-contrast display that stands out on the sandbed or rock surfaces.

Coral Type: Anemone (Rock Flower Anemone)
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate with gentle, indirect flow to allow full expansion without tissue stress
Food Requirements: Photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, or anemone-specific diets.
Aggression: Moderate; generally sessile but capable of stinging nearby corals and invertebrates within reach.
Substrate: Best placed on sandy substrate or low rockwork where it can anchor and remain stable without frequent disturbance.

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health.
