Rock Anemone- Red

Species: Epicystis crucifer (Rock Flower Anemone)

Coral Type: Anemone (Cnidarian – Actiniaria)

Physical Description: Red Rock Anemones are intensely colored sessile anemones prized for their deep, saturated red tones and naturally variable patterning. The oral disk typically ranges from bright cherry red to deep crimson or burgundy, often accented with subtle gradients, faint striping, or contrasting highlights toward the mouth. The short, bulbous tentacles form a dense, plush ring that gives the anemone its signature flower-like appearance when fully expanded. Under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting, the red pigmentation deepens and may display subtle fluorescent undertones, creating a rich, high-impact focal point on the sandbed or rockwork.

Coral Type: Anemone (Rock Flower Anemone)
Lighting: Low to Moderate (approximately 50–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate with gentle, indirect flow to support full expansion and prevent stress
Food Requirements: Photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, or anemone-specific diets
Aggression: Moderate; sessile but capable of stinging nearby corals or invertebrates within reach
Substrate: Best placed on sandy substrate or low rockwork where it can securely anchor and remain stable without disturbance

We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health.
