The Periclimenes pedersoni Pederson Cleaner Shrimp is a small, striking reef invertebrate with a translucent body, vivid blue and white banding, and long antennae used to signal cleaning behavior to fish. Peaceful and reef-safe, it establishes “cleaning stations” on rockwork or coral, removing parasites and dead tissue from tankmates while providing fascinating natural behavior for hobbyists to observe. Its active, social personality makes it an engaging addition to both nano and larger reef aquariums.

Pederson Cleaner Shrimp thrive in established reef tanks with stable water parameters, moderate flow, and plenty of rockwork or coral for shelter. Introduce them only after the aquarium is mature and free of aggressive tankmates that could harm these delicate shrimp. A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended, though larger systems are ideal for observing their cleaning interactions.

Their diet can be supplemented with finely chopped or pellet foods from San Francisco Bay Brand, Hikari, PE, TDO, and New Life Spectrum, alongside natural grazing on biofilm and ectoparasites. Target feeding ensures proper nutrition and supports long-term health.
