Species: Zoanthus spp.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Colonial Polyp
Mohawk Zoanthids are a bold and highly recognizable zoanthid variety prized for their dramatic coloration and vibrant fluorescent glow. Each polyp typically features a bright green or yellow oral disc surrounded by fiery orange, red, or purple rings and accented by contrasting skirts that create a striking, multi-layered appearance. As colonies spread, they form dense mats of colorful polyps that add movement, texture, and intense visual contrast to reef aquariums. Under actinic or blue-spectrum lighting, their fluorescent pigments become exceptionally vivid, making Mohawk Zoanthids a standout addition to any zoa garden.
Coral Type: Soft Coral / Zoanthid
Lighting: Moderate lighting requirements (approximately 75–150 PAR)
Flow Rate: Low to Moderate; indirect water movement encourages healthy polyp extension and helps prevent debris accumulation
Food Requirements: Primarily photosynthetic through symbiotic zooxanthellae; occasional feedings of fine particulate coral foods such as Reef Roids or Benereef may encourage faster growth and richer coloration
Aggression: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive; generally reef-safe, though colonies may spread rapidly and overgrow nearby corals if not managed
Placement: Best placed on isolated rock islands or stable reef structures where colonies have room to expand and receive consistent lighting
We maintain a rigorous, veterinarian-approved quarantine program that includes proactive treatments, careful observation, and daily monitoring to ensure the highest standards of coral and invertebrate health. Our biosecurity practices reduce the risk of any cross-contamination between systems, meaning all our livestock are ready for your display tanks.
